Providing TLC
for the Future
On Thursday 9 June, Ipswich Mayor Paul
Pisasale will launch Ipswich Community Aid’s new assistive
technology demonstrator facility, the TLC Centre.
Located
at 26 Commercial Drive, Springfield, the new facility aims
to demonstrate the effectiveness of assistive technologies
and telehealthcare as a valuable component of community
care.
The TLC Centre features working models of the latest assistive technology and invites industry professionals, carers and the community to come and try the technology for themselves.
The Centre is organised into focus areas that explore issues such as falls, dementia, sensory impairment and more, offering technology focused solutions to better manage these conditions from home.
All of the technology
aims to be discrete and assist people to maintain their
independence and dignity in the home for longer than they
otherwise would.
All of the technology is contributed by
Tunstall Healthcare, the world’s leading provider of
assistive technology.
Like Ipswich Community Aid, Tunstall
support people living with special conditions with the aim
of providing better quality of life and increased
independence.
Ipswich Community Aid and Tunstall
Healthcare came up with the TLC Centre concept in 2009 and
are looking forward to launch the new facility.
Following
the launch, the TLC will be open to the public from 10am to
3pm for a community open day with activities, demonstrations
and a BBQ
lunch.
