Tuesday 18 December – Australian
equities were buoyed by renewed hopes of a resolution to the
fiscal cliff. Investors chose to ignore the recent release
of the RBA minutes which seemed to indicate there were signs
of a softening labour market. The index heavy weights,
materials, consumer discretionary and financials all put in
notable gains.
The All Ordinaries rose 22.50 points
