.All too often I hear tales around the personnel industry of large and not-solarge organisations expending vast resources in time and money on performance appraisals that deliver negligible benefit to the business plan,. Leanne Markus said. .Performance appraisal has become a bureaucratic ritual that adds little value to the bottom line of an organisation and rarely addresses any of the factors that actually support individual performance.
.Effective talent management is a matter of getting the fundamentals right in the first place; ensuring people know clearly what their job is, that they have the right skills and knowledge to deliver those outcomes, that they know how they are doing through regular meaningful feedback, and receive the guidance needed to improve their performance and contribution to the organisation.. .Too often these days on-line performance management systems are not much more than digitised standard forms, unable to effectively track these basic processes. They add little value because they are not intuitive nor logically structured to support the real drivers of high-level performance and engagement.
.That is why I found the reported comments of Simon Moutter so refreshingly clear-thinking and pragmatic, and I wish more senior corporate leaders would take his comments on-board,. Leanne Markus said.
