Revised standard for flotation aids

A new standard for flotation aids for water familiarization and swimming tuition has been published by Standards New Zealand. AS/NZS 1900:2014 Flotation aids for water familiarization and swimming tuition specifies the design and performance requirements for manufacturers of flotation aids. These flotation aids help non-swimmers to be comfortable in water and to learn to swim.

The standard provides safety requirements for the manufacture of flotation aids for non-swimmers. It includes revised clauses for the ‘strength of sewed seams’ and ‘fastener security’ and supersedes AS 1900:2002 Flotation aids for water familiarization and swimming tuition … more
