Updated Fuel Stock Data Is Available On The MBIE Website |
||
Recent movements in fuel stock levels are normal, expected, and consistent with routine shipping and replenishment cycles. The latest fuel stock data is now available on the MBIE website. It shows New Zealand’s fuel supply remains sufficient, with good levels of fuel in the country, and more on the way.
As at as at 11:59PM Wednesday 22 April, fuel companies confirmed the current fuel stock level (as days’ cover) as:
| Stock | Number of ships | Petrol | Diesel | Jet fuel |
| In country | 36.1 | 21.9 | 24.9 | |
| On water within EEZ (up to 2 days away) | 6 | 11.4 | 13.7 | 12.5 |
| On water outside EEZ (up to 3 weeks away) | 4 | 4.4 | 5.7 | 8.4 |
| Total NZ stock* | 51.8 | 41.3 | 45.7 |
*Totals may not sum due to rounding. These numbers represent our data at the time of publication.
Fuel stocks naturally rise and fall each week as fuel is used and new shipments arrive. Current fuel levels are broadly in line with normal levels before recent global disruptions, and fuel supply remains normal.
Fuel companies continue to report regularly to officials, and there are currently no concerns about future fuel shipments.
MBIE receives fuel stock and shipment data from fuel importers twice a week. This information is published on the MBIE website on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and shows fuel supply at a specific point in time.
Previously published on‑land stock numbers have been revised due to amended returns from fuel companies. The information was proactively shared by fuel importers as soon as they became aware. The updated figures have now been reflected in the 22 April data.
