Step out of the rush with Fat Freddy’s Drop, as the bro’s get back to doing what they do best, jamming hi- tek soul music together on stage!

In July the ‘5 star’ band are blowing their hypnotic grooves in Auckland, home-town Wellington, Wanaka, Dunedin and Christchurch, before venturing overseas to promote the Platinum drop, Based On A True Story.

The debut studio album made history in May as the first independently distributed album to debut at Number One on the NZ Album Chart, and garnered a swarm of 5 star reviews. Its success is testament to the bro’s savvy independent vinyl releases, sheer hard work; and the power of Freddy’s live. Too much Freddy’s!

Band-leader Fitchie AKA Mu, picked up Best Producer and Most Outstanding Musician at the recent b-Net NZ Music Awards while Joe Dukie AKA Dallas Tamaira, the Freddy’s lyricist and singing sensation, was finally awarded Best Vocalist.

Winner of Best Live Act at the b-Net NZ Music Awards in 2004, Fat Freddy’s Drop takes off to UK and Europe in August for a two month continental drift, playing at the Big Chill Festival, the Astigmatic Festival in Poland, Koko in London, Popkomm in Berlin, plus gigs in Manchester, Amsterdam and Frankfurt. For Freddy’s wax fans, the midnight marauders are dropping Based On A True Story as a limited edition double vinyl album.
