8 down, 18 FREE concerts to go for Shore Sounds ’07!

WEEKEND REVIEW: AteennnnTion Saturday 3rd February: to get down and get funky was the order of the day at the Fort and it was certainly obeyed! Dunc the Funk stirred up the 600+ crowd with some phat bass and led the charge of Dunedin’s Retrophonic Funk Machine and Wellington band The Aviators. A wonderful sunny day assisted the buoyant mood with Rangitoto Island a perfect backdrop to proceedings. Sunday’s 3rd Solo Sunday’s concert was yet another relaxing afternoon accompanied by the awesome songwriting of Nick Hohepa and the enchanting tones of pianist and singer Lisa Crawley. On arriving at the concert I was instantly approached by an audience member who saw the Shore Sounds branded BMW vehicle (I have lucked into) asking, “who is this girl and telling me they thought this years series was brilliant” – who needs a publicist! Another great weekend!

Saturday 10th February, Hot Country Night

Featuring: Chet O’Connell, Brendan Ham, Marian Burns, JamesRay, Melissa Daisley

Sunday 11th February, Classical by the Sea
1-4pm @ Waiake Beach, East Coast Bays
Featuring: Starlight Strings, Alzare, The Devonport Trio
A Classical Combo including strings, chamber musicians and Alzare, four of Auckland’s leading male voices!

Sunday 11th February, Solo Sundays (Shore Sounds ’07)
2-4pm @ Windsor Reserve, Devonport
Featuring: Francis Dickinson, Mikhail Pierce
The 4th in the Solo Sundays series recognizing singer/songwriters and solo performers.

Valentines Night Dance, Wednesday 14th February
7-11pm @ Browns Bay Beach Reserve (South End Carpark)
Featuring: Downbeat Big Band
