Machines That Count – From Abacus to Internet

CORRECTION: MOTAT’s newest exhibition Machines That Count – From Abacus to Internet will not be opening at the end of February as previously announced but will be launched within the next couple of months.

Machines That Count – From Abacus to Internet focuses on the development of one of today’s most essential and widely used tools – the computer. Incorporating five key phases the exhibition explores the roots of the computer industry, the era of the ‘super computer’, the miniaturisation of computer components, the invention of the PC and the evolution of computer programs and applications. This exhibition is a must for anyone who has ever used a computer!

Dates
Machines That Count is open everyday from 10am to 5pm (final entry at 4.30pm). The exhibition is expected to run for six months.

MOTAT main entrance, Great North Road, Western Springs, Auckland.

Costs
You can enter Machines That Count – From Abacus to Internet as part of your MOTAT entry fee. You can also enjoy the rest of the museum, free tram rides and entry to the tactile dome for one great price.
