With many of the films showcasing stories of activists and survivors through the eyes of courageous filmmakers they help to put a human face on threats to individual freedom and giving a voice to those who might otherwise be silenced.

Thursday 10 May

1.00pm We're Normally Different (67 mins)
Following the lives of four Dutch actors with mental disabilities and told uses beautiful images, this is a warm poetic and touching film that deeply penetrates the existence of people with a mental disability.
Preceded by Awaiting Tomorrow (15 mins)

6.00pm The Refugees of the Blue Planet (53 mins)
A hard hitting documentary that examines the lives of environmental refuges who have been displaced because of the devastating affects of environmental abuse by big business and big industry.
Preceded by Escudo (27 mins)

8.00pm All the Invisible Children (120 mins)
A very special cinematic project by eight major directors including John Woo, Spike Lee and Ridley Scott centered on raising awareness about the plight of children around the world.

The HRFF encourages dialogue and after each screening a speakers' forum will take place. The Forums are facilitated by a panel of between one and three people, who will speak about the issues raised in the film from an informed perspective. Questions from the audience are also welcome.
