Northland Youth Theatre is on the search for new talent to perform in their 2009 season of short plays.
Open auditions (for young people aged 14 – 24 years of age) will be held on Monday 19th January at midday in The Old Library (Arts Promotion Trust) on Rust Avenue.
Northland Youth Theatre is a trust dedicated to support, educate and train young Northlanders in theatre. NYT strives to employ professional directors and designers from around the country to ensure a quality experience for actor and audience.
This year, under the direction of Jarrod Martin & Laurel Devenie, young actors are being sourced to perform in two short plays, one contemporary & the other a classical piece.
Laurel has an impressive background in Theatre but to add yet another string to her bow, she has recently gained a Bachelor of Performing Arts from Toi Whakaari (NZ Drama School) & was nominated for the 2007 Chapman Trip award for best newcomer for the theatre production of 'The Graduate'. Worked in both Auckland & Wellington for last few years
Jarrod currently teaches drama at Dargaville High School & has years of experience in improvised theatre & has starred in many television roles including a part on popular local show, Mercy Peak. Most recently, Jarrod played Capulet in Bogwood production’s Romeo & Juliet.
For your audition you will be required to take part in a fun workshop & bring along with you a song or a poem which you can work from during this interactive audition.
