Whisky Is Just The Ticket

Whisky Is Just The Ticket

Ticket sales for DramFest, New Zealand’s whisky festival, are racing ahead of this time last festival, with three of the appreciation classes already sold out.

“Even in these harder economic times, people still want to go out and enjoy themselves,” says organiser Michael Fraser Milne. “I believe this is due to the affordable nature of the event.”

Whisky lovers come from far and wide for the festival, held in late February in Christchurch. This year attendees will get to meet nine of the top whisky experts in the world and have access to 26 stands with around 150-200 whiskies to try. Between them, the experts have nearly 200 years of experience in the industry.

“We are delighted with our line up of experts, which will make the event really educational for those who come along,” says Fraser Milne. “But most of all the event is about having fun. With that many whiskies there really is something for everyone! There are still tickets available, but I’d recommend booking soon.”

Michael Fraser Milne is the owner of local Christchurch whisky shop ‘Whisky Galore’. Stocking over 500 whiskies, the store opened in 2003 and is seriously dedicated to all aspects of the whisky public’s needs.

The festival will include tastings and appreciation classes, a whisky cocktail demonstration and sampling, a nosing/tasting competition and an evening ‘Whisky Do’.
