South Island Dance Network Launches Official Dance Website

Do you find yourself secretly Krumpin’ in front of the bedroom mirror, tapping your toes to a Salsa rhythm as you down a latte in your local café or shuffling your feet to the scintillating sounds of Swing while contestants battle it out on ‘Dancing with the Stars?' If so, the worldwide web now offers you a unique opportunity to explore your favourite foot fancy!

The Dance and Physical Theatre Trust wish to announce the official launch of our highly anticipated South Island Dance Network (SIDN) website www.southislanddancenetwork.org.nz.

Never has it been so easy to connect yourself to dance! We’re your one-stop location for all dance related events, classes, information and networking opportunities in the South Island! We also offer FREE promotional opportunities where dancers can list performances, workshops, classes and services in order to attract a wider audience.

Currently, we operate in Christchurch and Dunedin with the view to extending to the whole of the South Island in the future. We have also worked to establish strong ties to DANZ (Dance Aotearoa New Zealand) who is the national organisation for dance in New Zealand.

With our website, we aim to establish a strong voice for dance throughout the South Island by supporting and sustaining dance projects and artistic development. We are offering a database facility and frequent mail outs to encourage networking and contact within the dance community. As and when necessary, we will also arrange meetings and events in order to unite and strengthen the dance sector. By gaining and providing more information about the dance community on our website, we hope to provide increased employment opportunities and extend the ever-flourishing popularity of dance!

So come on all you jive bunnies, jump onto our website and explore the local dance scene in your community, your town, or what the heck, the whole of the South Island! It’s your choice!
