Savvy Promotions in association with the Creative People's Centre present:

An all ages show featuring Cut Off Your Hands, Collapsing Cities, Bionic Pixie, Brand New Math, and Oh Mercy from Melbourne, Saturday 25th July at the Ellen Melville Hall.

A love of music does not start at 18, so Savvy Promotions are once again allowing fans of all ages the chance to see their favourite bands live. The expense of all-ages shows, and lack of appropriate venues has left Auckland’s youth sitting in inner-city squares listening the music waft out into the streets, unable to go inside themselves. Since 2004 the not-for-profit organisation, Savvy Promotions, has endeavoured to get kids out of the squares and in to the mosh-pit. With a line-up of indie rock favourites who do not usually play to all-age crowds, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

There has hardly been a night this year that Cut Off Your Hands have not played a show. After circumnavigating the globe in support of their debut album You And I, the band are bringing their live show back to their hometown. And what a show it is; front man Nick Johnston struts like Jagger, launches himself into the crowd and dangles from a ceiling – and that’s just in the opening number. If their repertoire of hits such as Expectations, Oh Girl, and Still Fond don’t make you dance, there is probably something wrong with your feet.

Collapsing Cities are in the throes of recording their second album, following a six month stint in the UK. While abroad the band toured with Black Kids, Late Of The Pier, and played at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, where NME published them as one of the magazine’s 10 Hopes of the Near Future. Their radio-friendly ramshackle indie pop delights, including Seriously, Fear of Opening My Mouth and Elixir Always, and the new single Tazers have all been staples in the 95bFM top ten. The band will be previewing more of their future hits on the night.

Sent back from the year 3000 Bionic Pixie is here to teach us how pop music is meant to be done. Combining electro-rap, robo-pop, and custom-made costumes with a heart-shaped guitar, this pixie is not merely cute. Under the command of its creator and alter-ego, Aucklander Zoe Fleury, Bionic Pixie is ready to kick out your speakers and leave you wanting more.

Not since Motorhead has one band inspired so many moustaches. With their debut EP Moustache Party alt-pop 4 piece Brand New Math whipped the Auckland scene into a frenzy with their easy to dance to ditties Idiot Savant and Weapon Of Parnell.

Alexander Gow and Thomas Savage, the duo at the heart of Melbourne four-piece Oh Mercy, blend evocative and intelligent lyricism with a strong pop sensibility. Having toured relentlessly over the last year with the likes of The Panics, End Of Fashion, The Kaiser Chiefs and Little Birdy, Oh Mercy have fine tuned a live show that leaves the audience in a daze.

Tickets on sale Friday 19th June from eventfinder.co.nz for only $15! For more information, please check out www.myspace.com/savvypromotions.
