Vodafone TXTs customers about driving

Customers on the Vodafone network can expect to receive a TXT over the next couple of weeks reminding them of the changes to mobile phones and driving law which comes into force on 1 November.

Vodafone’s Head of Corporate Responsibility, Tom Newitt, says;

“Vodafone supports the new law as a positive change for road safety, and we want to encourage our customers to be safe by turning of their mobiles while driving, or pulling over to take a call. TXTs are a great way to get a personal message across to all our customers.”

Vodafone hopes the ban will prove to be a tipping point in changing driver behaviour.

“Vodafone values our customers’ well-being and Vodafone whole-heartedly supports the introduction of the new law.

Under the new law you are allowed to make a call using a hands-free kit. However, the mental distraction of a hands-free conversation is still a hazard. This can be reduced by keeping calls short, keeping the conversation simple and using hands-free kit only when the driving conditions are suitable.
