Mobil Employees Give Aid in Auckland, Wellington

19 October 2009

Employees from Mobil Oil New Zealand Limited will spend the day volunteering at Alzheimer’s Auckland and Ronald McDonald House in Wellington on Wednesday 21 October, 2009, as part of the annual Mobil Day of Caring.

The Mobil volunteers will be busy cleaning, gardening, tidying and washing down the outside of the community facilities.

Mobil’s Day of Caring is run with the support of United Way New Zealand, a national non-profit organisation which supports volunteering and funds community groups.

Charles Ewart, Mobil Oil New Zealand Limited Country Manager, said, “I am pleased to offer our employees the opportunity to volunteer at Alzheimer’s Auckland and Ronald McDonald house.” The Mobil Day of Caring provides tangible assistance to community groups and promotes the importance of volunteering.

United Way New Zealand Chief Executive Officer, Don Oliver, said “Volunteers are the backbone of our community support services and corporate volunteering programs like the Mobil Day of Caring provide an enormous boost to the Not for Profit sector. “Corporate volunteering is a good example of how United Way, business and community organisations can work well together and make a significant contribution to the community,” he said.
