Jess Chambers with special guest Fraser Ross in
Paekakariki
This coming May Day unwind with Jess
Chambers in the old-timey cosiness of Paekakariki’s St.
Peter’s Hall. Accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Peter
Hill (from The Woolshed Sessions) and with an opening set by
Fraser Ross, this will be one magic, candle-lit evening of
music. A mixture of sophisticated folk and bohemian
lullabies, perfect for an Autumn night by the sea.
Whether performing solo or as a member of The Woolshed Sessions, Jess Chambers is capturing hearts all over New Zealand with her award winning songwriting and mesmerising performances.
Last year she was awarded the legendary New Zealand Country Music Award with her hit “Stringing Me Along” and was a finalist for the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll Award for her song “Island”.
Jess’ live show already has a reputation as an intimate and captivating performance.
New Zealand Musician described her WOMAD performance as receiving “standing ovations from the audience. A response that alludes towards a very very bright future for this infectiously irrepressible young singer.”
A bona fide Newtown gypsy, Fraser Ross
completed his debut album ‘And Birds do sing’ after
dreaming his way all over the country in his traveling house
bus.
The album is a collection of Cohen-esque lullabies
in which he weaves exotic tales using ‘sentences made of
wool, spun from the highest night-clouds and woven into the
campfire's hair.’
A unique and captivating performer, Fraser will warm your heart and remind you that birds do sing, we just need to take a the time to listen every once in a while.
