City Gallery Wellington saves the best for last

It is the final week of City Gallery’s Festival Season, and three of Wellington’s most creative women are coming together to see it out in style.
 
On Saturday 15 May at 2pm, Elizabeth Knox will be reading her work, The Love School for Séraphine, and Jo Randerson will be reading Through the Door, both literary responses to artwork by Séraphine Pick. 
They will then be joined by Séraphine herself, to take part in a chaired discussion answering questions put forward by visitors.
 
This is a fabulous opportunity to listen to the writing of two of our most interesting authors, and to hear three of Wellington’s most talented women in conversation.
 
Séraphine Pick’s exhibition closes on Sunday 16 May, so this is the last chance to see first-hand the work that has made such an impact on these two writers.
 
Séraphine Pick is a Wellington-based painter, whose self-titled exhibition has been immensely popular during its Wellington season at City Gallery Wellington. Curated by Felicity Milburn of Christchurch Art Gallery, this large-scale survey offers visitors a spectacular insight into the original and richly imaginative practice of Séraphine Pick, one of New Zealand’s most highly regarded painters.
 
Elizabeth Knox is an award-winning New Zealand author, having written for both adult and young adult audiences. Her books have been published internationally, and her best-known work is The Vintner’s Luck.
 
Jo Randerson is a Wellington-based performer, playwright, author and director, and has been the recipient of an Arts Foundation New Generation Laureate Award.
