Revamped McCahon Database Goes Live.

The McCahon Trust is pleased to announce the launch of the fully revamped McCahon online database target="_blank">www.mccahon.co.nz. The database, supported by the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and Auckland Art Gallery, features over 1500 works from both private and public collections, making it the single largest repository of Colin McCahon’s work.

‘The database will appeal to anyone interested in the art of Colin McCahon and provides an invaluable tool to art researchers around the world,’ said Ms Michelle Hippolite, Te Papa’s Acting Chief Executive and Kaihautū.

Key improvements to the database include the inclusion of chronology, bibliography and exhibition listings from Colin McCahon: A Question of Faith published by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and Craig Potton Publishing in 2002; and an increased ability to search by core topics.
‘The next stage of the project is work towards the database being as complete a representation of McCahon’s oeuvre as possible,’ said Mr Chris Saines, Auckland Art Gallery’s Director.

‘The Trust hopes to add further paintings, works on paper, and jewellery. Any information from the public about works that aren’t currently listed on the database would be appreciated by the Trust’, Mr Saines said.

Members of the public with information regarding McCahon objects not featured on the database can contact the McCahon Trust by writing to:
