Extras wanted for Colonel’s dinner

MEDIA RELEASE
5 October 2010 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Extras wanted for Colonel’s dinner

Have you ever wanted to sit on your arse in a pub, and be featured in a film that will be shown all around the world – both at the same time? This could be your lucky month.

The makers of a new short film, The Colonel’s Outing, need your help to create some ambience in one of the film’s climactic scenes, to be shot later this month at Galbraith’s pub in Mt Eden, Auckland on the evening of Sunday, October 17.

The Colonel’s Outing tells the story of two old war veterans who find love in a rest home, but are forced to escape for the day from the prying eyes of Matron to get some privacy.

“They’ve had a lovely day out on the town and have decided to treat themselves to dinner,” says director Christopher Banks. “Unfortunately, things are about to turn sour. You know those air crash programmes on TV that horrify you but you can’t stop looking at? This is one of those scenes, and we’re offering people a ringside seat.”

The Colonel’s Outing is being produced through Number 8 Films, a charitable trust which aims to increase opportunities for New Zealanders to see locally-made stories, and promote community awareness of film-making culture.

“This is a fun opportunity to see how the film-making process works,” says producer Andy Jalfon. “What lasts for a few minutes on screen takes a lot longer to put together. We hope people will be keen to see what things look like from the other side of the lens.”

Previous shorts produced by Number 8 Films, Teddy and Communication, have won awards, critical acclaim and screened to festival audiences of thousands around in the world in London, New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.

“We don’t need too many people to fill up our scene, so if you’d like to be a part of the film, please get in touch with us to register your interest as soon as possible,” says Jalfon.

If you’d like to be an extra in The Colonel’s Outing, email info@number8films.com for more information. Extras will be required for a few hours on the evening of Sunday, October 17 at Galbraith’s pub in Mt Eden, Auckland.
