Leadership Change at Man Alive

After five years of wonderful service, Chris Davidson has resigned his position as Chief Executive of Man Alive.

Chris has decided to take on the new challenge of a management position with the Community Probation Service.

During his time, Chris transformed the organisation, which is now recognised as one of the most effective Men’s and Youth Services organisations in New Zealand. He was honoured for his work over those years by staff, board members and partner organisations at a recent ceremony.

He has also taken us into an exciting new era of collaboration and partnership with our sister agencies, Western Refuge and WATCS, which will in turn have tremendous outcomes for our community in services integration and effectiveness, and reduction in family violence.

Chris leaves now with our warmest congratulations, tinged of course with sadness. However we have no doubt that the contribution he will make in Community Probation will ultimately benefit all of our interests and especially those of the communities we serve, the reason for our existence.

Man Alive has decided that, rather than immediately replacing Chris, we will put in place a temporary leader, to allow a comprehensive examination of the best long term course for the community and our agency. We will be consulting with our partners and funders in this process.

Naturally, Man Alive would like to have retained Chris, but we are absolutely confident that we will come out of this period in a stronger position. We all know that change, personal and societal, is the only constant today. We are an organisation that embraces change and innovation, and will manage this one creatively and positively, with a strong and united board and staff team.
