New additions to the Behind Closed Doors exhibition


The Adam Art Gallery is delighted to announce the addition of new works to its major exhibition Behind Closed Doors: New Zealand Art from Private Collections in Wellington from today, Tuesday 9 August 2011.

These include three works by Colin McCahon: Singing Women 1945-6, Elias Will he Save Him? 1961-62, and The Third Bellini Madonna 1961-62; and a painting by Toss Woollaston, Nelson Landscape 1947.

The window space of the gallery is also changing every six weeks. The current installation of two lascivious onlookers, Duck Character and Mouse Character 1999 by Ronnie van Hout, will be on display until 28 August.

Over the course of the exhibition you will also have the opportunity to see the 'transaction' works by conceptual artist Billy Apple (September); works from Francis Upritchard's project rainwob i (October); and activist inspired works by Daniel du Bern and Dane Mitchell (November-December).

The Adam Art Gallery is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11am-5pm.
