TVNZ to provide LIVE coverage of Christchurch Memorial Service for New Zealanders

In memory of those who lost their lives in the Christchurch Quake on 22nd February 2011, TVNZ will bring you extensive coverage of commemorative events occurring throughout the day.

ONE News’ Simon Dallow and Close Up’s Mark Sainsbury will bring viewers their broadcasts LIVE from Christchurch on the eve of the anniversary, on Tuesday 21st February.

On the morning of the 22nd February, Breakfast will start the day’s events from 6am and will cross LIVE at 8am from the special service being held at Latimer Square for the families of the ones lost in the Christchurch earthquake.

Following that, ONE News will continue to bring up-to-the-minute coverage from Christchurch throughout Good Morning starting at 9am until midday.

At 12pm, Simon Dallow will host the broadcast of the Civic Memorial Service held at North Hagley Park in a commercial-free programme running for 90 minutes. This will also feature the official two minute silence starting at 12.51pm to mark the actual time of last year’s tragedy.

Te Karere will continue TVNZ’s coverage of the day with a special memorial edition at 4pm, followed by ONE News at 4.30.

ONE News at 6pm will recap the day’s events with Wendy Petrie, and Simon Dallow LIVE in Christchurch

Mark Sainsbury and the team from Close Up will also be based in Christchurch.

Finally Tonight will complete the day’s special coverage with a round up of the highlights from the commemorative events.
