Gators Play Ball in the Hutt |

23 FEBRUARY 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE:
Gators Play Ball in the Hutt
Lower Hutt
will play host to the debut of a dramatic new sport this
Saturday.
“Gatorball” was invented by American adventurer Aaron Andrews and Lower Hutt native son Morgan Davie.
Inspired by the chaos of “Calvinball” from the comic strip Calvin & Hobbes, the game has elements of schoolyard favourites capture the flag, kick the can and dodgeball.
Before each round of play special bonus rules are pulled out of a hat. These include surprises like water pistols, jailbreaks, and the dreaded mystery smoothie.
People interested in playing or watching the worldwide debut of Gatorball are invited to meet at Trafalgar Park, Lower Hutt at 5pm on Saturday 25 February.
Future matches will be scheduled after this meet.
The new sport is being played to mark the 30th birthday celebrations of Mr Andrews. This is his third visit to Lower Hutt, which he instantly recognised as his home away from home.
“This is truly a magical place,” said Mr Andrews. “It's so walkable.”
