Rip it up Turns 35 and Hits A Readership High
Back in 1977 when Murray Cammick launched his free rock paper Rip It Up few could have predicted it would still be around 35 years later. Yet June 2012 sees the magazine enter its 35th year and what better way to celebrate than with a new readership high of 101,000 readers nationwide *
Issue number 347 hits the streets on June 4 and we celebrate 35 years of inspiration with an exclusive photo shoot where some of our best talent pays homage to the artists that have inspired them. Founding editor Murray Cammick opens his photo archives and shares shots of legendary artists visiting our shores. Plus we’ve got limited edition merchandise, prizes galore and everything else you’ve come to expect from New Zealand’s biggest music and entertainment title.
Rip It Up editor Leonie Hayden said of the milestones:
“I'm totally thrilled with both the readership results and the forthcoming June/July issue marking Rip It Up's 35th birthday. Thanks to our dedicated staff and contributors, loyal supporters and, of course, our incredible readers, we're becoming the exception to the rule that publishing is in peril. We love being the exception to the rule; we eat rules for breakfast.“
Keep an eye on www.ripitup.co.nz for more 35th celebrations over the coming weeks.
To all of the artists featured, to all of our contributors and to all our readers a huge thank you. We hope you enjoy the issue – and here’s to the next 35 years.
