Premiere Screening of Te Radar’s Latest Documentary
The Friends of Te Papa are delighted to host the premiere screening of Te Radar’s new documentary of Our Far South on Tuesday 3 July.
This is Te Radar’s latest documentary and is based on his experiences on the Our Far South expedition through the Southern Ocean to Antarctica.
"This documentary brings us in touch with Gareth Morgan's dream to create ambassadors of real New Zealander's for what is a truly special part of the globe, Our Far South", says Anton van Helden, Marine Mammals Collection Manager at Te Papa.
Anton van Helden was one of the participating experts that Gareth took on board to help build awareness of the issues facing the wildlife of Antarctica, the subantarctic islands and the Southern Ocean, and the role this part of the world plays in our environment.
50 people for 30 days on a small boat in a big ocean, dealing with big issues and wild experiences. From the subantarctic islands to the white continent itself with ice bergs, seals, albatrosses, and penguins, the Southern Ocean super highway takes the crew of the Spirit of Enderby on the journey of their lives.
Our Far South is a Morgan Foundation project aimed at raising New Zealanders' awareness of the area south of Stewart Island.
Tickets are available at General Admission $15, Friends of Te Papa $10, Student/Child $5 and can be purchased by emailing Friends@tepapa.govt.nz
