Experience Southeast Asia! Southeast Asian Cultural Festival

Society for South East Asian Communities’ Media Release
Invitation to a vibrant Southeast Asian Cultural Festival
Experience Southeast Asia!

13 November 2012

The Society for Southeast Asian Communities Inc. (SSEAC) invites all Aucklanders to the ASEAN Festival— A new Cultural Festival showcasing delicious Southeast Asian cuisine, exotic and colourful dances, beautiful and invigorating music, and all right here in Auckland, under one roof!
Sample authentic Southeast Asian cuisine that New Zealanders know and love; from Vietnamese spring rolls to Thailand’s pad thai. Weave through the outdoor food market and sample the delicacies of eight different Southeast Asian nations.

Then come inside and enjoy six hours of cultural entertainment. Watch a martial arts performance from Indonesia, listen to traditional Thai instruments, and sway to colourful dances from the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar and Laos. At the formal opening, you will be wowed by the thumping and roaring of the Lion Dance from Singapore.

The ASEAN Festival 2012 – Experience Southeast Asia, a first of its kind, is brought to you by The ASEAN Embassies in Wellington – ASEAN Committee Wellington (ACW) in conjunction with the Society for Southeast Asian Communities (SSEAC) and NZ Maori Tourism.

SSEAC and the Southeast Asian communities of Auckland are proud to bring Southeast Asia to life in the heart of Auckland.

Free Entry - so bring along your family and friends and have a great day experiencing Southeast Asia on us! We recommend that you wander in for lunch, and then stick around for dinner.

Mark your calendars: Saturday, 17 November 2012, from 1.30pm -8pm, at the Logan Campbell Centre, ASB Showgrounds.

The communities from the Southeast Asian Nations of Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam showcase their rich culture at this event.
