Viva Eataliano
After numerous visits to Italy, it had to be done. Mick Mason , late of the famous trout fishing Mecca – The Motueka River Lodge, via a career in advertising and publishing – Metro, North and South, has finally got round to his life time ambition, to open an Italian Restaurant. Not a”Ma and Pa” place, but an upmarket uber urban Ristorante and Bar in Nelson. Not probably a city most people would associate with fine Italian dining. Many people would be surprised to find Nelson has the largest Italian community per head of population in New Zealand , a history of Italian immigrants, involved in the fishing industry and horticulture, mainly tomato growing.
Although Mick
comes from the same part of the world as Jamie Oliver –
Essex UK; he was aware of the diversity of Italian cuisine
before Jamie was born,
and has been involved in an
Italian love affair ever since he ate his first mouthful of
risotto.
That is why he has called his restaurant
“Eatalian”. Set within a fashionable island in Nelson
Province, the menu at Eatalian is a celebration of the
seasons that brings the diner a memorable
experience.
They use the best local and imported products
to create cuisine that is truly Italian in flavour and
style. Whilst they keep to the simplicity of “la cucina
italiana” the aim is to consistently improve the taste and
appearance of the dishes - “ci auguriamo buon divertimento
con “…we hope you enjoy.
The Eatalian restaurant is situated at 7 Morrison Street, Fashion Island, Nelson 7010. for reservations ring 03 5466998 or book online www.eatalian.co.nz
