If ever there was an album to warm the heart and spread the message of peace, it is the new release from the musical “Loving the Silent Tears,” a one-time performance at the 6,300-seat Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

“Loving the Silent Tears” is a unique celebration of music from around the world, composed by some of the most highly revered talents in Hollywood’s film, Broadway’s theatre, and pop music industries. It’s rare to find a song with meaningful lyrics, catchy music, and outstanding vocals, but with “Loving the Silent Tears” CD, listeners can find this harmonizing combination in over two dozen tracks.

A journey of self-discovery conveyed by actors Junior Case, Patti Cohenour and Luke Eberl, the musical was directed by Tony nominee Vincent Paterson (Michael Jackson’s and Madonna’s world tours). He said, “We have these beautiful poems that have been created into songs, and arrangements are made for them to sound as if they come from different countries.”

Oceania was represented through the number “Monkey Mind,” a fast-paced song befitting both the vibrantly imagistic and heartfelt lyrics as well as the exciting setting of the outback. The sounds of the didgeridoo helped transport the audience to another continent while Emmy winner and Broadway star Liz Callaway conveyed her interpretation through her soaring voice. Of the song composed by Academy and 2-time Grammy Award-winning composer David Shire, she enthused, “He has really captured the essence, I think, of Australia. The music is very joyful, and it’s very uplifting and exciting.”

Two-time Oscar-winning composer Al Kasha (“The Morning After”) was inspired to create this grand theatrical production after reading “Silent Tears,” the poetry anthology of Supreme Master Ching Hai, the renowned spiritual leader, humanitarian and artist.

Music aficionados will appreciate the rich variety of elevating and emotionally evocative songs from the musical. Far from tunes created the ordinary way, these songs are free-verse poetry crafted into memorable melodies by the best music maestros, including Jorge Calandrelli (Crouching Tiger Hidden DragonCrouching Tiger Hidden Dragon), Doug Katsaros (FootlooseFootloose), Henry Krieger (DreamgirlsDreamgirls), Don Pippin (La Cage aux FollesLa Cage aux Folles), Nan Schwartz (Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and David Shire (Saturday Night FeverSaturday Night Fever).

The album features an impressive collaboration of top artists and creatives with 16 Grammy Awards, 3 Academy Awards, 3 Tony Awards and 6 Emmy Awards to their names. “The music is great, the production and the arranging was fantastic,” said Grammy-winning mixer, engineer and producer Tom Weir.

The vocalists include Grammy winners Jon Secada (“Just Another Day”), Jody Watley (“Real Love”) reggae legends Black Uhuru (“Anthem”). These visionary artists are joined by a host of Broadway stars and international pop icons, representing 16 diverse musical cultures, including Celtic (Katie McMahon), Middle Eastern (Camellia Abou-Odah, Arab; Liel Kolet, Israel; Siavash Shams, Iran), Russian (Kiril Kulish), Vietnamese (Hồ Quỳnh Hương), Brazilian (Fabiana Passoni), French (Flo Ankah), Chinese (Kay Tse) among others.

Highlights of the musical – and this album – include the USA number with Tony winner Debbie Gravitte, the tender “Singing Praise” by Korean star Brian Joo and Korean-American singer Heather Park, and Italian tenor Mark Janicello’s phenomenal solo “Initiation.”

Jon Secada’s Cuban-inspired composition based on Supreme Master Ching Hai’s poem, “All Love, All Forgive,” is another outstanding performance. He shared, “It’s a beautiful message, and a beautiful song, and I think everybody’s going to like it very much. It’s that balance of the beauty, the simplicity, at the same time the depth of the message. So that’s a combination that’s rare to see these days.”

The album also includes a bonus track of Supreme Master Ching Hai singing one of her own songs, “Talking to a Stone Buddha.” The album is a perfect way to celebrate the unique beauty of all cultures as well as our mutual quest to attain both inner and collective peace.
