Youth ride month out in style

Maidstone Max will come to life on Saturday 28 September when the Breakaway BMX Competition is held.

UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 20 SEP 2013—Activation in partnership with Youthtown Upper Hutt has put together a competition that will draw riders from the greater Wellington Region. Local trick riders will be on hand to judge an amateur competition with under 15 and 15 – 18 year grades. They will also be executing demonstrations to inspire the young aspiring riders.

Local MC, Bennett Pomana, former member of Dam Native and Upper Hutt Posse, will be on the microphone and a free sausage sizzle will be running to ensure that even non-BMX enthusiasts are entertained.

Youthtown has funded the event with Burkes Cycles and Triple Six Distributions, encouraging the competition by providing prizes to reward the competitors.

The Breakaway BMX Competition is the closing event of the Breakaway Festival of Cycling that has seen all sorts of different cycling events. Activation has been encouraged to see the numbers of people taking to their cycles to get more active. “The important thing to remember is that although this is a specific event, you can go on to join our excellent BMX club. The idea of the Festival has been to celebrate cycling in all its forms and the wonderful opportunities we have locally. Upper Hutt is fortunate to have a great number of cycling options, so jump on your bike and just do it!” says Activation’s AJ Picard.

Entry for the Breakaway BMX competition is free. Registration on the day commences at 10.00 am with the competition kicking off at 11.00 am and wrapping up by 3.00 pm. For more information and updates visit www.facebook.com/activationuh or phone AJ from Activation: (04) 527 2857.
