Innovative Charity Initiative

On May 1st, Strong Links launches Project Synergy, a revolutionary initiative enabling charities to gain access to expert I.T. support for only $1 a week.

It sounds too good to be true, but Project Synergy has attracted skilled volunteers from across the country who are eager to start giving back to the community. “It is an unfortunate fact”, says CEO James Winstanley, “that many of New Zealand’s best charities do not have the resources to take full advantage of their I.T. systems. This is where we step in”.

Using an online application, charities are able to request support on a wide range of I.T. problems that would otherwise take time and money to resolve. Project Synergy volunteers then get to the root of the issue, and advise on technical developments or upgrades that may stop the issue reoccurring.

The truly impressive feature of Project Synergy, however, is its social-prenurial business model that focuses on supporting the community. How? Every dollar earned through Project Synergy goes straight back to New Zealand charities. P3 Foundation, a youth led charity seeking to eradicate extreme poverty, is already set to receive funding, but James is adamant that there is always room to support more causes.

Overall, Project Synergy aims to change the technical landscape of the charitable sector. Asked what he hopes to achieve in the coming year, James replies, “Better websites, better systems, increased efficiency – this is the path are making”.
