‘Wildersound’ goes live
AUCKLAND: New music project ‘Wildersound’ goes live today with 14 fresh videos of NZ musicians performing intimate songs in beautiful natural places. New videos will release every week this season.
The project is part acoustic live session, part nature recording and part music video. Locations include performances in forests, open fields and a back yard bonfire.
The videos feature up-and-coming talent as well as well-known figures: Albi & the Wolves, Jesse Will, Holly Arrowsmith and Ciaran McMeeken feature among others.
Creator and director Ian Neilson says “NZ has loads of emerging talent and I love getting out in nature with with a camera. I did an experimental set with some musician friends and I was really happy with it so I stepped up my game for the new Season.”
Collaborating musicians usually spend half a day outdoors with the film crew where they record up to six tracks for videos published on the Wildersound Youtube, facebook and websites.
Featured musician Chris Dent (Albi and the Wolves) says “Wildersound has been wonderful because it's just not like anything else. We went out on a day full of adventures and camaraderie with fellow musicians. We drove out to the coast to play music and eat fresh seafood by the fire - You can't ask for anything more! And the results from the shoot are awesome. The team is professional and so so friendly! We can't wait for you to see these videos!”
The recording fidelity is a priority in this project and high-definition files are available for broadcasters now. Videos are captured with at least 2 cameras and are also of broadcast-quality.
Ian Neilson says “I wanted to make sure these moments in music were captured faithfully. This is the kind of video where you can hear musician’s lyrics, see their eyes and really get the meaning in the songs. There’s also a random element in being outdoors, sometimes animals or rain or some other nature drops in and it’s perfect.”
Wildersound Season 2 is in planning stages and artist applications are open now.
Ian is available for interviews along with featured artists.
