Arresting copies; a roundtable discussion

Arresting copies; a roundtable discussion

Glen Hayward, Megan Dunn, Cassandra Barnett and Christina Barton in conversation
Chaired by Martin Patrick

Saturday 3 September, 2pm
Adam Art Gallery Te Pātaka Toi

What is the status of the copy in contemporary art today? In our post-post-modern world, what are the purposes and pitfalls of appropriation as an artistic strategy now?

Sherrie Levine's work African Masks After Walker Evans, 2014, provides an important context to discuss what copying means for artists and commentators at this point in history. Please join us for a stimulating discussion with artist Glen Hayward, writers Megan Dunn and Cassandra Barnett, and Adam Art Gallery Director and art historian Christina Barton. The discussion will be chaired by Wellington art writer and academic Martin Patrick.
