Acclaimed pianist and composer Kelly Moran releases the bold, propulsive new album Don’t Trust Mirrors digitally via Warp Records, and shares that the album’s CD/LP release date is now set for January 30th, 2026. The album was announced in September with the lead single and album opener 'Echo in the Field' which came accompanied by a mesmerising, kinetic video directed by Katharine Antoun. 'Echo in the Field' caught the attention of Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum, Hearing Things, Resident Advisor, Clash and many others upon its release.

Don’t Trust Mirrors caps off one of the most transformative periods of Kelly Moran’s musical life. In 2019, her career was defined by extensive touring and festival dates — waking up early to play her sets, and staying late to dance to techno. The experience of staying out and absorbing this environment generated a new connection between herself & the music she was making, inspiring her to work on a more rhythmic followup to her 2018 Warp Records debut Ultraviolet.

But an unexpected and personal shift in her life, along with a halted tour during the pandemic, changed the course of the project. Her self-perception altered — both physically and emotionally — as well as her path, presenting a new creative process. This led to 2024’s Moves in the Field, which The New York Times called "a softhearted but steel-skinned set of 10 piano pieces that are as rapturous as a waterfall or as delicate as vapor.”

Six years in the making, Don't Trust Mirrors marks Kelly Moran’s pivotal return to synth and prepared piano, showcasing the emotional experience of seeing yourself through distortion, reflection, and the slow work of piecing yourself back together. The album features Warp Records label mate Bibio and comprises 10 tracks of magnificent timbral refractions. Weaving together shimmering textures and sharp edges, Don't Trust Mirrors is an immersive journey towards self-reconnection and coming back into focus.

Kelly Moran is a pianist and producer who has spent her career excavating the sonic possibilities of the piano. An accomplished and highly sought-after composer, she has collaborated with an array of visionary contemporaries including FKA twigs, Yves Tumor, Kelsey Lu, Oneohtrix Point Never, and the Avalanches.

As a solo artist, Moran's critically acclaimed albums, Bloodroot (2017) and Ultraviolet (2018), have explored a variety of extended piano techniques like John Cage-inspired prepared piano and exercises in improvisation. Her unique strand of experimental piano compositions, which conjure hypnotising textures and dramatic compositional arcs, have been included on year-end lists across classical, avant-garde, electronic, and metal genres.

In 2018, Moran was signed as a Yamaha Artist and began composing with Yamaha’s technologically-enhanced pianos, most notably the Disklavier player piano. Her releases Vesela (2023) and Moves in the Field (2024) showcase deeper sensitivity to the piano, with Moran merging her human restraint with the limitless possibilities of the disklavier.
