Bike-a-Palooza 2025 Is Ready To Roll!

Wellington kids, grab your helmets - Bike-a-Palooza is back.

The fun-filled mountain biking event for kids aged 2 to 12 is hitting the Wainuiomata Trail Park on Sunday 7 December, promising a day packed with riding, racing, games, candy floss, spot prizes, and good vibes.

Run entirely by WORD’s awesome crew of teen assistant instructors, Bike-a-Palooza is a celebration of biking, community, and pure outdoor fun - made for kids, by kids.

“Bike-a-Palooza is all about getting kids stoked on riding,” WORD National Operations Manager Nic Johnson said.

“It’s not about being the fastest, it’s about having a go, supporting your friends, and having a great time on the trails.”

The event features four courses to suit every level of young rider:

Registrations open at 8:30am, with racing kicking off at 10:00am sharp. Entry is $20 per rider or $50 per family when booked online. Wainuiomata locals can join the fun for just $5, and on-the-day entries are welcome (space permitting).

Beyond the racing, the day features a BBQ, games, and plenty of spot prizes – all designed to keep the fun rolling. Volunteers are also welcome, with roles available for marshals both on and off the trails.

Spaces are limited to 200 riders, so families are encouraged to register early at https://www.word.org.nz/things-we-love/bike-a-palooza
