The Auckland ACES head to Mount Maunganui this week for Round 2 of the Plunket Shield, taking on Northern Districts in a four day match at Bay Oval.

The ACES arrive in strong touch after a commanding win over the Central Stags in Round 1, a result delivered through disciplined cricket and a handful of standout moments across the three days. The performance lifted Auckland to the top of the Plunket Shield table and signalled an early statement of intent.

Northern Districts present a fresh challenge. The defending champions from the 2024/25 season come into this round looking to respond after a first up loss to Canterbury, adding an extra layer of interest to this early season meeting.

There was plenty to celebrate in the opening match. Lachie Stackpole launched the campaign in style with his maiden first class century, blasting 148 off 112 balls on day one. Jock McKenzie followed with his first 5 for in the Stags opening innings, before Rohit Gulati sealed the win with a maiden 5 for of his own.

The ACES name an unchanged squad for this week’s fixture, backing the group that delivered so convincingly in Round 1.
