BNZ Breakers Sign "Young Gun" Sharpshooter Preston Le Gassick |
||
The BNZ Breakers are excited to announce the signing of guard Preston Le Gassick to the roster for the upcoming NBL27 season with a team option for NBL28.
A dual-national with an Australian father and a Kiwi mother, Le Gassick joins the club as one of the most exciting young prospects in the region.
Le Gassick had a standout collegiate career at Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida, and a high-impact tenure in the Australian NBL1 with the Gold Coast Rollers. During his most recent NBL1 campaign, he emerged as a dominant offensive force, averaging a massive 21.3 points and 5.8 assists per game.
"Preston is a sharpshooter proven he can score at a high volume." says Dillon Boucher BNZ Breakers President of Basketball Operations. "He is a rising star who we want to bring into our high-performance environment and develop his talent."
“He impressed me with his outstanding character and work ethic.” Said Boucher.
Le Gassick’s shooting pedigree is backed by elite numbers - he boasts a career Australian NBL1 three-point percentage of 38.3%. His versatility was on full display during the 2024-25 season, where he paired his scoring output with relentless playmaking and defensive activity, averaging over 5 assists and nearly a steal per game.
The Gold Coast native played alongside current BNZ Breaker Reuben Te Rangi at the Gold Coast Rollers last season.
Statement from Preston Le Gassick:
"I am incredibly honoured to be joining the BNZ Breakers. Growing up in a household with a Kiwi mother, I’ve always felt a strong connection to New Zealand."
"Playing with Reuben Te Rangi last year gave me a great insight into the level of professionalism required to succeed at this level. I’m ready to bring my energy and my shooting to help this team win a championship."
The addition of Le Gassick further strengthens a backcourt that already features marquee signing DJ Vasiljevic, creating a formidable perimeter threat for the BNZ Breakers. They continue their global search for a new Head Coach.
