Scouting NZ sends team of Scouts to Antarctica

What: Scouting New Zealand is sending a team of Scouts to Antarctica

When: The team leaves Christchurch on Tuesday 27 November 2007

Why: The expedition is part of International Polar Year (IPY) and coincides with the centennial of Scouting

Programme: A full programme of the Scouts’ activity will be forwarded in the next few days. The programme is weather-dependent and will include:

- The renewal of the Scouting Promise (as part of the international centenary celebrations)
- Working on projects at Scott Base
- Working on projects at McMurdo Sound
- Liaison with the resident international community and participation in a range of IPY projects
