Canterbury law scholar chosen for Chevening scholarship.
A 24-year Canterbury law graduate, Grace Lee has been selected as the British Government’s Chevening Scholar in 2009.
Miss Lee says she will use the scholarship to study at Cambridge University and research Climate Change law and policy for her Masters in Law.
“I am passionately interested in International Law and I have a keen interest in the protection of the global environment. As part of my LLM studies I want to research legal responses from an environmental, economic and trade perspective that countries can adopt,” says Miss Lee.
She says she plans to return to New Zealand after her study at Cambridge and work in the field of Government policy to further the long-term goal of sustainable economic growth in this country.
Miss Lee who achieved a LLB (First Class Honours) from Canterbury University has done voluntary work for the Canterbury Community Law Centre. She now works as a solicitor for the Auckland law firm Mayne Wetherell.
Miss Lee was born in South Korea but immigrated with her family to Christchurch where her parents still live.
