Parents pay for Kindergarten Funding Cuts

“It is a sad day for kindergarten parents and families in the Tauranga region. The Government’s funding cuts which commence today, for services such as kindergartens, mean that we have had to ask parents for voluntary donations to maintain our high standards.” Tauranga Region Kindergartens Principal, Peter Monteith said today.

Tauranga Region Kindergartens will lose over $850,000 annually as a result of the cuts.

“The TRK is committed to providing the best start for children in their education journey by continuing to employ 100% trained and registered teachers. Our parents support that policy, but the only way we can afford that is to seek financial support from them”, said Mr Monteith.

“Government should recognise the vital role high quality Early Childhood Education plays in all facets of children’s later life and reinstate the funding”, concluded Mr Monteith.
