Te Puna Kohungahunga celebrates 10 years

Maori medium ECE centre Te Puna Kohungahunga will celebrate its 10th year anniversary tomorrow, Saturday 10 August.

The puna was established in 2004 at the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Education by Tony Trinnick, Terehia Brock and Gloria Japeth to support students and inner-city community members wishing to include Tikanga and Te Reo Maori in the early development of their tamariki. The puna has had a consistent track record since, and remains at the forefront of holistic approaches to learning.

The occasion will be marked by the blessing of the new carved pare at dawn, followed by a breakfast. Then at 1:30pm past and present whanau and kaiako will gather to continue the celebrations throughout the afternoon.
