Condition updates from Waikato Hospital

Condition updates from Waikato Hospital
4, January 2009

The three-year-old girl who last night was the sole survivor from a car
accident in Ngahinapouri, 16km south-west of Hamilton, is today in a
stable condition in Waikato Hospital.

The driver of the car and two children died at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the truck were uninjured.

The two-year-old girl who was flown to Waikato Hospital from Raglan on
the Westpac Waikato helicopter on New Year's Day with burns after she
fell into burning embers, was yesterday discharged from hospital.

Finally the 45-year-old Swedish woman whose 50-year-old husband Goran
Oskarsson, was killed on New Year's Day when the campervan he was
driving crashed at the intersection of State Highways 47 and 48, near
National Park Village, is today in a comfortable condition at Waikato
Hospital.

Her three teenage children were treated and discharged and are staying
at the hospital's accommodation facility Hilda Ross House.

Waikato Hospital has a number of Swedish medical staff who are helping
the family.

Mr Oskarsson was a police inspector in Sweden and members of the
Hamilton police welfare section are also providing support.

A member of the woman's family is expected in Hamilton from Sweden later
tonight.
