PACs images go live at Tairawhiti

Tairawhiti District Health (Gisborne Hospital) has joined Waikato and Bay of Plenty DHBs in moving to the shared platform for radiology images and information.

The completion of this project has meant that clinicians at Waikato DHB can now view images undertaken at Gisborne Hospital via the current PACS application i-Site Enterprise in the same way that we can access BoP imaging currently.

PACS/RIS Administrators from both Waikato and BoP’s Radiology Services have been in Gisborne assisting the project team with training and testing. Radiology Service Manager, Mike Webb says their contribution was welcomed by Tairawhiti DHB and ensured the project was delivered on time.

This new ability to see images from Gisborne will assist clinical staff to provide advice and support and to make decisions on the need for tertiary referral to Waikato.

Staff can access Gisborne image via the current PACS application i-Site Enterprise or if the patient is known in i-Soft (CWS) they will appear on the PACS timeline when other Waikato imaging for that patient is accessed.

Tairawhiti District Health’s Radiology Manager, Leigh Potter, says the changes will assist in improving patient outcomes. “The shared system should allow clinical decisions to made more quickly, and I’m hopeful the result will be a smoother journey through the health system for individual patients.”
