This Friday, 15 May, Aotearoa will be a sea of pink for Pink Shirt Day - a day where New Zealanders stand together to spread kindness, celebrate diversity and take a stand against bullying.

It’s not too late to plan a Pink Shirt Day celebration. Everyone is welcome to visit www.pinkshirtday.org.nz for free resources and ideas for how schools/kura or workplaces can get involved.

There are just four days left before Friday to purchase the 2026 Pink Shirt Day t-shirt and merchandise, featuring joyful artwork by New Zealand illustrator Bonnie Brown of Studio Bon. The official tees, tote bags and enamel pins are available from all Cotton On and Typo stores nationwide until 17 May or sold out.

Thanks to the Cotton On Foundation, 100% of net proceeds from the sale of Cotton On Pink Shirt Day items go directly to the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand to help eliminate bullying.

"Pink Shirt Day is more than just a day - it’s a movement," says Shaun Robinson, chief executive of the Mental Health Foundation. "The funds raised allow us to reach more people and create lasting change by delivering free tools to schools, workplaces and communities, educating people about the impacts of bullying and how to create cultures of inclusion and kindness. Your support for Pink Shirt Day sends a powerful message that no one stands alone.”

Aotearoa currently has the third highest rate of school bullying out of 38 OECD countries, and one in five workers have experienced bullying in the past year.

Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 after two students stood up for a peer who was bullied for wearing pink. By wearing pink this Friday, New Zealanders are taking a stand against bullying, harassment and discrimination.

Everyone taking part in Pink Shirt Day this year is encouraged to share photos and videos on social media using #pinkshirtdaynz and tag @pinkshirtdaynz to show their support.
