The festival began with an Aztec dance group blowing on conches, drumming and dancing.

Altars housed in the tents lining the avenue honored family members, union workers, or the disappeared. The shoes are often all that is found of the young women who go missing from Juarez/El Paso, lured to their deaths by who knows?

Speaking of luring...

Spidey Robinson? The smoke from one of the many barbecue stalls drifts over one of the many inflatables for kids to jump around in.

Most of the people attending the festival were families with young kids. One of several attractions with an educational theme, this schooll in a bus is painted with scenes familiar to the farmworker children it usually serves.
