The photo above was taken about thirty minutes after the sun set over the Freehold Creek area in the Ohau mountains.

From now until mid winter, the skies will become a deeper colour of red as the sun gradually sinks over the horizon at the end of each day. Spectacular colours in a truly beautiful area situated in the High Country of the south island.

Below you can see Lake Ohau, with Mount Glen Mary directly sitting at the head of the lake.
