UnitedFuture To Support Improved Immigration Amendment Bill

“UnitedFuture will support the remaining stages of the Immigration Amendment Bill after gaining a significant concession from the Government,” said UnitedFuture leader Peter Dunne.

“The Government has agreed to drop what we considered was the far too harsh definition of a mass arrival as more than 10 people.”

“It has now agreed to support a Supplementary Order Paper that I will move to define a mass arrival as being more than 30 persons.”

“That is a significant step forward and means UnitedFuture can now the support the Bill.”

“I want to acknowledge Minister Woodhouse and his officials for the constructive way in which they worked with my office to address this issue, and am very pleased that a compromise has been reached that will not only ensure New Zealand is ready for any future mass arrivals but includes a definition that I consider much more fit for purpose,” said Mr Dunne.
