Closer relations between New Zealand and the European Union

New Zealand is pursuing closer dialogue and relations with the European Union through an agreement identifying current and future areas of cooperation.

Public submissions are now being called on the Partnership Agreement on Relations and Cooperation between New Zealand and the European Union. The Agreement would establish for the first time a treaty-level platform for the further development of the relationship. It would set up mechanisms for dialogue across a broad range of policy areas. In some places it would also seek to reinforce fundamental norms of international law, such as respect for human rights, the rule of law, and commitments under international disarmament and non-proliferation treaties.

Tell the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee what you think

Send your submission on the Agreement by midnight on Thursday, 3 November.
