Northland MP Calls For Meeting With Mayors Following Dog Attack

Northland MP Grant McCallum is calling for a meeting with local mayors on the state of dog control in Northland following the tragic death yesterday in Kaihu.

“Firstly, can I pass on my deep condolences to the family, and all those who knew the victim of this vicious attack” says Mr McCallum.

“The issue of dog control is becoming a consistent issue in Northland. This is the third fatal dog attack in five years in our region.

“I am concerned Northland is developing a reputation for being unsafe, or for being a region that does not take dog control seriously.

“Nobody wants to see attacks like this happen around our home.

“I am committed to working with the local mayors and the Minister for Local Government to find a solution. This meeting will be a good starting point for central and local government collaboration because I know that we all want a safer Northland.
