David Seymour Selected As ACT Candidate For Epsom

ACT has today announced that David Seymour will again stand as ACT’s candidate for Epsom at the 2026 General Election. Mr Seymour is marking the occasion with a day of street corner meetings with constituents, his fifth Sunday holding them in the past two months.

“Epsom has returned an ACT MP at the last seven elections, and it’s been my greatest privilege to have been elected the last four,” says Mr Seymour.

“My first job is to serve my neighbours as their local MP. I am ready for three more years knocking on doors, attending local events, helping constituents, listening carefully, and making sure the views of Epsom are reflected in Parliament.

“Epsom voters have consistently chosen ACT representation because it works. It gives the electorate a strong local voice promoting shared values such as educational achievement and aspiration, anchors ACT in Parliament, and provides a stronger centre-right Government in New Zealand.

“ACT has demonstrated over the last two years the essential role it plays keeping a centre-right coalition government on-track and accountable, saving taxpayer money and cutting red tape to secure New Zealand’s prosperity.

“A good electorate MP is often the last line of defence for people who are experiencing challenges in life, whether it’s immigration matters, council red tape or battles with bureaucracy. I’m proud to have helped countless Epsom constituents over the years with these problems and can think of no greater privilege than continuing to do so.

“I’m often asked what makes a good electorate MP, the best way I can describe it is the person who will take your phone call late on a Friday afternoon, when other MPs might be clocking off.

“Even as I have assumed the role of Deputy Prime Minister, I always see myself as the MP for Epsom first and foremost.

“I will continue doing what I have always done, listening to Epsom, working hard, and taking Epsom’s values to Parliament.”
