Radio Live’s John Tamihere Scheduled To Meet US President Barack Obama

RadioLIVE afternoon host John Tamihere has scored the world’s most sought after invitation.

Currently in the United States as part of a visiting international delegation of community, political and business leaders, Tamihere is scheduled to meet the country’s newly elected President at a private meeting tomorrow (Friday, 12.45pm NZ time).

Tamihere, who may be the first New Zealander to meet the new President, said he’s keeping his fingers crossed and while the meeting has been confirmed, it is still subject to cancellation at short notice if circumstances dictate.

“The chance to meet the new President would be a real honour,” he said. I don’t think I’ll really believe its happening until I’m actually ushered into the oval office.”

The meeting is expected to last 15 minutes and while Tamihere says he has no mandate to speak officially on behalf of New Zealand he plans to use the opportunity to inform the President about some of the many community based initiatives being undertaken in this country through his role at Waipareira Trust.
